Iraq – ISIS Activity Monitoring Weekly Monitoring Report | 15–21 June 2026

Syria Monitor documented 15 incidents related to Daesh activity across Iraq during the reporting period.

The most prominent trend was the continued wave of crop and farmland fires, accounting for the vast majority of recorded incidents. A total of 13 agricultural fire incidents were documented across Nineveh, Kirkuk, and Salah al-Din provinces, including farmland belonging to members of various Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) formations.

In addition, one armed clash was recorded between security forces and militants in the Wadi al-Yargunat area south of Kirkuk, while a separate assassination incident was reported south of Mosul.

The week also witnessed a significant security warning issued by PMF-affiliated sources regarding the growing presence of Daesh cells in the desert regions stretching between Nineveh, Anbar, and Rutba, highlighting concerns over renewed militant activity in remote desert terrain.
