Weekly ISIS Activity Monitor in Africa | 6–12 July 2026

The Syria Monitor Strategic Research Center presents its Weekly ISIS Activity Monitor in Africa, documenting the most significant attacks and security incidents attributed to ISIS and its regional affiliates during the period 6–12 July 2026.

The reporting indicates that ISIS maintained a high operational tempo across multiple African theaters, with concentrated activity in Nigeria, Somalia, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Niger, and the Lake Chad Basin. The group continued to employ a combination of armed assaults, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ambushes, raids on military positions, and attacks targeting civilian communities.

Throughout the reporting period, ISIS focused primarily on security forces, military bases, logistical convoys, and vulnerable rural communities, demonstrating its continued ability to conduct coordinated operations across geographically dispersed regions.

The report also highlights the growing importance of Africa within ISIS’s global operational framework, as regional affiliates continue to sustain operational capabilities despite ongoing counterterrorism campaigns conducted by local and international forces.

This publication is part of the Weekly Security Monitoring Series issued by the Syria Monitor Strategic Research Center, providing researchers, policymakers, and media organizations with timely assessments of ISIS activity, operational trends, and the evolving security environment across Africa.
