Weekly ISIS Activity Monitor in Syria | 5–12 July 2026

The Syria Monitor Strategic Research Center presents its Weekly ISIS Activity Monitor in Syria, documenting the most significant attacks and security incidents attributed to ISIS or linked to the activity of its cells during the period 5–11 July 2026.

The reporting indicates that ISIS continued to rely on low-cost, high-impact tactics, primarily involving motorcycle-borne attacks, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and targeted assassinations. The group’s operations focused mainly on security and military personnel, while also targeting economic assets and civilians in selected areas.

Deir ez-Zor recorded the highest level of ISIS activity during the reporting period, followed by Aleppo and Daraa, while indicators of continued militant presence remained evident across the Syrian desert (Badia) and the eastern countryside. These developments reflect the group’s ability to preserve operational mobility and conduct dispersed attacks despite ongoing counterterrorism operations.

The reporting also includes key security developments, most notably the official announcement by the Damascus Security Directorate, which attributed the bomb attacks carried out during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to ISIS. This represents a significant indicator of the group’s renewed capability to organize attacks in urban environments.

This publication is part of the Weekly Security Monitoring Series issued by the Syria Monitor Strategic Research Center, providing researchers, policymakers, and media organizations with timely assessments of ISIS activity, operational trends, and the evolving security landscape in Syria.
