Weekly Monitoring of ISIS Attacks in Syria | 29 June – 5 July 2026

During the period from 29 June to 5 July 2026, ISIS maintained an active operational presence in Syria, with a series of attacks concentrated primarily in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, alongside isolated incidents in other areas.

Throughout the week, the group continued to rely on motorcycles and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) as its primary tactics, targeting military and security personnel through assassinations, roadside bombings, and hit-and-run attacks. These operations reflect ISIS’s continued preference for low-cost, highly mobile attacks designed to exploit security gaps while avoiding prolonged direct confrontations.

The reporting period also witnessed continued propaganda activity by the group, including the display of ISIS flags in rural areas of Deir ez-Zor, indicating ongoing efforts to project influence and reinforce its presence despite sustained security pressure.

This weekly report presents a documented overview of the most significant ISIS-related incidents recorded across Syria, supported by geographic mapping, preliminary statistics, and analytical observations on the group’s operational trends during the reporting period.

The report is part of the Syria Monitor Strategic Research Center’s ongoing effort to provide accurate, timely, and evidence-based monitoring of extremist organizations, supporting researchers, policymakers, and media organizations with reliable security analysis and continuously updated data.
